Automatic Restarts
I just lost several open files. Thanks to Microsoft's automatic restart design. I understand why people feel hatred towards Microsoft, why they feel vengeful, hurtful, destructive, even homicidal. I feel sorry for all the people who have lost hours of work, have lost money, have suffered absolutely needless due to the Microsoft programmers and management. I am getting so sick of huge corportations. They absolutely, positively do not care about people. They care about money. I am getting so sick of it. I will probably put this under my caring and control section later. But now I just want to get this started. I feel so out of control, so powerless when I come back to find my laptop restarting. This time I had just put it down to spend some time with my partner who is not feeling well. Then I went to take a shower. I came back and heard the Microsoft start up music. That is when I realized what had happened. It is more frustrating to know that it would take a massive crusade to try to get Microsoft to change that f'ing design. You can't just ring up someone and tell you how you feel. Who cares how you feel at any large corporation? It is like who cares how you feel when you try to express yourself to the government or a police authority - or let's just say some insecure, emotionally needy person who suddenly has a massive amount of power just because they put on a certain set of clothes, and are perhaps given the legal right to walk around carrying a gun and a radio to call for "back up." Here is one exampleof how frustrated people get by the Microsoft auto restart torture.
Anyone who would design such a program obviously does not understand emotions. Or they don't care. Or both. Any manager who would approve such a design, obviously is more interested in control than in how people feel. Any corporation who continues to sell its software, year after year, with that kind of abusive, disrespectful, insulting and offensive design can't care even care about the customer's feelings. And we all put up with it. Because we have no choice. Or we believe we don't. Maybe if someone started a huge campaign, with press releases and a million dollar budget, they could get Microsoft's attention. But how do you decide which battle to fight? In the past few weeks I have noticed that more and more things are becoming a battle. After spending time in Australia I see even more painfully clearly that it is becoming more like the USA. More and more corporations are taking over. They are selling and marketing more and more things we don't need. They control our lives more and more. The Internet companies design the plans to get the most money from us. The government designs systems to have more and more control over us. Now in Australia just to get a USB modem sim card you have to give your name, birthday, address, phone number, email. Do the people in the corporations who make these decisions feel bad, feel sorry? I'd say not. Instead they probably feel devensive. That's all for now. S. Hein |
