CCF - Combined Cadet Force in British Schools
In England there is something called CCF - Combined Cadet Force. I'm still not too up on this, but it seems to be a government funded scheme to train teenagers on how to be little soldiers. I am just starting to collect stories about it.

Steff's School
I emailed a friend in England and asked her if she had learned to use a gun. Her reply:
i didn't get that far because i left the school
but they do learn to use rifles
At age 17 Steff also told me she thought it looked "fun". I seriously doubt she would have said that when I met her at age 14. But at that time I didn't know about it, so we never talked about it. And for her it was probably so normal she never thought to mention it.
