Soldiers Hassling People in Argentina

On the way from Oran to Salta there is this "control point."

This soldier entered the bus and was looking at everyone's identification, passports etc.

These soldiers are taking everying out of these people's car. This is probably just a "routine check." It probaly held this family up by about a half hour.It looks a little like the one watching on the right is enjoying or finding it amusing. These things are normal in most countries I've been to in South America. The people just accept them, like most people accept most things in most countries, no matter how oppressive they are.

This soldier is looking through their CD's.

The soldier walking by seems to have been one of the officers. I saw about 8 soldiers outside, there were probably more inside. I was taking pictures from the bus then went outside to take some more, but when he saw me with my camera he gave me an intimidating look so I just went back inside and took more pictures through the windows. He probably also didn't like the fact that I was barefoot. For some people that would be too non-conforming and challenging to their feeling of authority and concept of right and wrong & appropriate/inappropriate etc.

Later on the same road there was another check point. But this was run by the police, not the soldiers. I have no idea what they were supposed to be checking.
