My Little Cabin in Peru
These pictures show how tidy I am. lol
This lady in Australia used to think "tidiness" was important. She said "Tidy home, tidy mind" or some such bullshit. lol
Actually, to be emotionally honest, I am afraid people will judge me for what they think is the "messiness" of my cabin. But screw them. I like it. They can bite me. I feel resentful let's say for all the times people have judged me. Anyhow, here is my tidy cabin.
1.
.. this is
my bed. the dark blue blanket makes the roof when i go to sleep.
i pull it over a rope that goes from the wall to the table at the
end of the bed, which u can see in the next pic
2.
3.
this shows
one of my attempts to make a little partition over the stove to
keep the heat in during the middle of the night when i want to
get up and write and cook/eat.
4.
this is
pretty much the whole cabin, taken from outside, looking through
the big window. in the bottom right hand corner u can see a bit
of the bed/tent arrangement I made for jerren the night he was
sick and lonely and stayed here. the ropes hanging down were
holding up a blanket so it made the tent type thing and the
blankets didn't hit his face. of course he also had blankets on
top of him, and a sleeping bag actually. but having the
"roof" really helps keep the heat in.
5.
The stove
on the floor and the metal thing which I guess was used for
horses and cows to drink from. I brought it in from outside and
turned it on its side to make a table out of it.
A close up of a few things. First one of the the orange foam rubber blocks that Jerren chopped into pieces one night. I wouldn't want him to forget about doing it. So now we have a reminder forever and ever. Yes, I am a very forgiving peson! Next the battery. It is the gray thing with the black top in front of the box. It is a twelve volt, sealed rechargable battery. It can power this laptop I am writing on now. I made my own cable for it. It is the kind of battery often used in the emergency lights you find in stairwells in "modern" countries. I was surprised to find one here in Peru! I found it in Trujillo. It runs the laptop for somewhere around four or five hours. The regular battery is so old now it only runs it for about an hour. The next item of interest is the outlet on the floor. It is the only outlet in the cabin. I wired it up myself. The cabin had no electricity when Laura and I moved in. So I bought some wire and hooked up a light and this outlet.

Pics by Jerren

Notice the shower bottle on the left. See Life in Peru for more info.
This was from the day Jerren stay there and I stayed in his room. I think he is even a worse houskeeper than me!

Notice the plastic bucket in the middle. These are very handy! I use them for washing myself, washing clothes, for chairs and a few other things. Oh and you can stack them up and make like a ladder. Notice also the pot with the red lid. That is how I heat up water for washing up when I don't use the hose system.
This is a close up of what is in the upper right hand corner. I keep forgetting to take a pic of it. I am pretty proud of it. You could never tell what it is so I will explain. It is a coke bottle with its top cut off. I have nailed it into the wall. It is the silverware holder! I like my little creations like this. Some people think I'm crazy. But I think it is crazy to buy a silverware tray at the store, which millions of people do around the world these days. Yes, even in Lima they sell the same kind of silverware trays you see in the good old US of A. One might think with the country being as dirt poor as it is, they would have better things to spend their money on, but nope. They buy plastic silverware trays. (Only in the cities though, I'd guess, just to be fair.)

Now why Jerren took this next one, I'm not really sure. It is the roof of the cabin. The blue streaks are where there are gaps in the roof. The blue is plastic that L and I covered the roof with. I guess Jerren thought it was interesting, or funny! But it keeps the rain out!

Now I think Jerren is making fun of my cabin here. He took this pic of the table and the little shelf I made. I don't know why it's so blurry. Maybe SJ was drinking again and his hand was shaking. I guess he thinks all my bottles and the peanut butter stacked up on the left are funny. Who knows! I'd tell you more about all the stuff in this pic but I want to get on the net so people like Loz don't complain that I have abandoned them. I haven't talked to her in a while and am afraid she is going to ream me again.
